Aftershock is a Macromedia utility, included as part of the Director package. Aftershock generates HTML and JavaScript to be associated with Shockwave and Flash movies; it can be used, for instance, to detect what version of a plugin a visitor to your page is using, and provide appropriate content. You can open files created by Aftershock in Dreamweaver and then paste the contents into other Dreamweaver documents. To edit Aftershock objects, install Aftershock in your system, select HTML generated by Aftershock in a document, and then click Launch Aftershock in the Property inspector.
In Flash 4, Aftershock has been superseded by the Publish capability. However, Aftershock is still useful for those using Flash 3 or Director.
